So, I, although a college student, am home for break right now, and my mom happens to be a Republican. So, I get calls from Scott Brown and Martha Coakley. Recently, I got a robocall from Scott Brown, saying that he would prevent either party from having a supermajority, and reminding me the election is tomorrow. Just one problem- it wasn’t a robocall. It was an actual person, just reading from a script verbatim, and not engaging me at all. I was never even asked if I’d vote or whom I would be supporting. Perfect robocall format, but with a live volunteer. I think this helps our chances. I sure know Martha isn’t wasting vols to do a job that can be done by a machine. Worst part of it was, he was almost as inarticulate as Mumbles himself. It would have been a hell of a lot more convincing to have some endorser do it, even if it were someone like Doug Flutie or Curt Schilling. I don’t know what they’re doing, but it sure isn’t helping them get votes

I’ll tell you what is worse: receiving calls from little old ladies in California using talking points for Martha. I conversed with both of them for 10-15 minutes just to see what I was dealing with. Pathetic.
After voting for Brown today, my wife and I went to the town clerk who was at the polling station to get the forms to remove our names from Democratic status to independent. I am sick of getting robo calls from Bill Clinton, Obama, Biden and Vickie Kennedy of all people. Enough already.

Being registered independent means you get double the robocalls. The Brown ones are worse to me, since they’re so blatantly homophobic.

as a Democrat in 1960 and voted for JFK. But I have to realize that the world is different now.

But it’s not the world that has changed. From your postings here, especially your support for JohnD, it’s hard for me to believe you voted for JFK.
<
p>The obvious question is what qualities and values did you see in JFK that you no longer see in the Democratic Party?
<
p>I’m coming from the other side: a small-l libertarian former Republican who sees the modern GOP as the party of big business and reduced individual rights (especially for gay people).

You get to vote in either primary, and you can claim to not be just another Democrat, despite the very few shreds of truth to that. Of course, I don’t have a landline…

p>What sucks is being in a split household. You get incessant calls for both. I’m glad this election is over, and I’m going back to school tomorrow
