“Medicare buy-in between 50 and 65. Medicaid expands up to 200 percent of poverty with the federal government funding the whole of the expansion. Revenue comes from a surtax on the wealthy.”. 200% might be a little low here in Mass. but the idea makes sense.
This plan creates something to build on and, apparently, would only require a simple majority to pass. No new taxes on working people. And expanding the federal government as a health insurance provider may set the stage for various cost controls that would help everyone.
