Both writers recanted what they had said. Dan Shaugnessy apologized today, saying he got “caught up in the moment,” and Bill Simmons said that he “[[has] a lot of regrets,http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/100208&sportCat=nfl”.
If only our elected officials were so quick to admit their faults! Imagine what it would be like if politicians were brave enough to admit they were wrong about something only days after it happens! I know that being a sports writer means your opinions don’t carry as much clout as a public official, but I think that there is something to be said for honesty and being able to say you were wrong.
Shaughnessy, Simmons, I applaud you.
