Today’s New York Times features a story on the controversy stirred up by the ties of “The Family” to the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02… “The Family” is the organizer of the Washington Prayer Breakfast. Ugandan MP David Bahati, sponsor of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, has been identified by investigative journalist Jeff Sharlet as “The Family’s” point person in Uganda. He is the lead organizer of the Ugandan Prayer Breakfast.
The Boston protest is mentioned in the second paragraph. Unlike in most other cities, Boston LGBT activists are not hosting a rival prayer breakfast, but are protesting at the JFK Building at 5:30 today. The objective is to expose the hate which drives the religious right’s down-the-line opposition to LGBT rights, in whatever form. Uganda blows the cover on their attitudes toward LGBT people, which cannot be characterized as Christian love.
