Greetings David and Hoyapaul. In the spirit of bipartisanship, when can we expect to see your contributions of $100 each to the MassGOP? It’s stirring up some interest at our side of the blogosphere: http://www.redmassgroup.com/di…
Please share widely!

and I’ll pay up. As incredibly painful as it will be. đŸ˜‰

“…how can you stand before the voters of this district and ask for their nomination for the Democratic Party when, moments after the brief tenure of Scott Brown began, you immediately donated $100 to the Massachusetts Republican Party?”
<
p>…
<
p>”Oh, so you not only support the Massachusetts Republican Party, but loudly and proudly engage in illegal online gambling? How can the Democrats of this district trust you to represent their interests?”
billxi says
To be an honorable and decent man.
ryepower12 says
you could not. I think you’ll find a tough credibility gap with rank and file democrats if you donate a $100 to the GOP — the fact that there was a ‘bet’ will be lost in the wind of the blogosphere when someone, somewhere down the line brings that charge up against you. When you donate $100, you only put your name and address down for the record, not the reason you forked it over…
<
p>Plus, the unceasing phone calls and Michael Steele fake-census mailers asking for more would never be worth the ‘honor’ of making good…
stomv says
or to different GOP organizations.
<
p>$25 to the state GOP
$25 to the National GOP
$25 to the GOP Senate Committee
$25 to the GOP House Committee
sabutai says
You could donate to Christy Mihos…or Dede Scozzafava…
peter-porcupine says
BUT – the bet specified Mass GOP, so it goes to Baker, I guess.
<
p>(Mihos has pledged not to take any state party money as he want that money spent on legislative candidates. Baker prefers the Cellucci State Party ATM model).
huh says
I stood next to Mr. Mihos on the escalator leaving the Bruins/Canadiens game last week.
<
p>DAMN is he orange.
kathy says
There is no one more orange than Boner.
christopher says
…go to whichever candidate gets the endorsement of the state convention, which has not yet occured?
amicus says
Thanks David (and Hoya).
kathy says
She was looking a lot more downmarket at the Teabagger conference than she did during the McCain campaign.

From the same RMG thread:

What you quoted is yet another example (as if more were needed) of the fact that the Republicans today have nothing constructive to add to the discussion – just a bunch of name-callers, like schoolyard bullies.
<
p>As I have said frequently before, we need a vital and engaged opposition party, but not one that simply obstructs and seeks to divide us.
billxi says
To throw stones. Please don’t make me embarrass your fellow democrats by providing examples. Remember, it’s a snow day tomorrow. I’ll have nothing better to do.
ryepower12 says
It’s tough to say that even as snark given your propensity to throw terms like that around. Wow, though, it’s amazing how much worse than usual you are at RMG.
billxi says
I have to be tougher on them. We are not sitting on the Scott Brown (the biggest recorded upset in electoral history) victory. We’re looking to make this a fair fight. Which is what our government should be!
ryepower12 says
For every Democrat elected President, there’s been 2 Republicans. Furthermore, Democrats have had to deal with far more scrutiny in the media since at least the days of Clinton. You can cheer — ra, ra, ra — as much as you want, and you can allow yourself to be blind to the truth as much as you want, but that you don’t grasp reality doesn’t mean reality doesn’t exist.
billxi says
I’m referring to Massachusetts.

What hurt you so badly?
hoyapaul says
But it was a legit bet and I will do it, right now in fact. I will even post some sort of confirmation if I can figure out how to do it.
hoyapaul says
this is the confirmation email that the MassGOP just sent, minus my name and address. It was from Lyndsay Jones and the email title was “Mass. Republican Party Customer Receipt/Purchase Confirmation”.
<
p>I guess it requires a bit of trust on our differently-winged friends’ part that the donation really was for $100, but I assure you I paid the full C-note. It was an honest wager and you guys won…this time! Now I need a drink…

We’ll just hope that was an auto-response – and we’ll have to let Jenn Nassour know to update the system!
<
p>I personally had no doubt you would honor the committment – and thank you. We’ll most likely use the money on House races (and that might not be a bad thing for all conerned!)
ryepower12 says
Brown and the state GOP will do every bit as well as when Mitt Romney rallied all those state rep candidates to run for office not so many years ago… maybe even a seat or two better!
<
p>The real thing to look forward to is the dozens of progressives we’ll seat this year to replace all those DINOs in the 26 (and counting) open seats…
hoyapaul says
it was an auto-response…I received the email a few seconds after the donation.
<
p>And you’re welcome, PP, but I’m sure you’ll understand if I don’t plan on making a habit of donations to the MassGOP đŸ˜‰
billxi says
Supporter, eh? If anyone ever questions your democratic loyalty, I will defend you to the end! You are an honorable man.
stomv says
that the last thing most posters around here want is billxi speaking on their behalf.
laurel says
and admit that immediately after the $100 donation to the GOP you made a $200 donation to a Democratic candidate. You know, just to feel clean again. đŸ™‚
billxi says
It was worthy of a Friday. But wouldn’t my support of a democrat carry more weight. I’m not following the party line.
