Jim Stanton looks like a serious challenger and a Republican “farm team” member ready to step up. I have posted this as a reminder that there are – and will be – a high number of seriously contested races. Despite 17 years in the House, or perhaps because of them, former Majority Leader John Rogers is vulnerable to the challenge by Jim Stanton, based on my initial evaluation of the challenger’s credentials, party membership aside.
Part of that is anti-incumbent fervor, part is association of John Rogers with Thomas Finneran and with Sal DiMasi and the run of scandals including the $30,000.00 John Rogers had to pay.
Kudos to RedMassGroup for being the first to publicize this race, at least that I have seen. I think the 12 Norfolk race is one that should be watched here.

John Rogers is a great guy and good legislator who has represented Norwood very well at the State House – I am sure his hard work will earn him a well deserved re-election!

The report is available online. While not everything recommended occurred, and while I didn’t agree with some items, real changes occurred. For example, when DCF (formerly DSS) seeks to “pull the plug” and end medical treatment, now second opinions are required and those hearings are open to the public.
<
p>At any event, those were long, difficult hearings and Representative Rogers always stayed so that everyone who wished to testify was heard, even if it was 6:00 or 7:00 PM; I know because I was there.
<
p>That being said, given not only the anger out there, but the general anti-incumbent sentiment, neither a long term veteran like John Rogers nor any other incumbent can take election for granted, and the Norwood/Walpole area gave good numbers to Scott Brown. So, Ward3Dem, if you are in financial “shape” to do so, and have the time, John Rogers will need to campaign actively this year and I am sure would welcome your donation.

Include Tom Calter (D-Kingston) and Allen McCarthy (D-East Bridgewater). I hear Calter’s got a real race on his hands; McCarthy is in a Republican area but his opponent is a Tea Party extremist.

I’m sorry. I can never get over that. How he remained a legitamate contender for speaker after being caught stealing a house is beyond me.
<
p>The facts say one thing about John Rogers. he is a thief.

Seems to me it has been sold. Time for the Open Meetings laws and Freedom of Information Act and Procurement rules to apply to ALL of Beacon Hill, don’t you think, EB3???
