I am proud to live in Massachusetts, a state that has mandated that EVERYONE must have health insurance. Unfortunately, the programs that the state government has set up to provide health insurance to all are incredibly expensive to run. Why is it so expensive to run? Because health care costs are incredibly expensive. If we had lower costs, programs like MassHealth would be much cheaper to run, right?
How’s this for excessive health care costs? Charlie Baker, as CEO of HMO Harvard Pilgirm (a state-registered “public charity”) made $1,500,000 a year. Knowing that Baker owes $136,235 worth of gratitude to his friends in health care, I would imagine that if elected he would ignore the steady rise of health care costs and the negative effect they are having on the state budget. Luckily, Charlie taught himself to ignore big expenses when he was working in the State House on the Big Dig. I’d expand on that, but I don’t know anything about it because he won’t talk about it.
