Below is the lead of Herald reporter Thomas Grillo’s announcement of the upcoming Aerosmith/J. Geils concert at Fenway.
(I added the bold)
The Red Sox [team stats] are set to announce tonight that Aerosmith will play one show at the ballpark on Aug. 14, according to a source.
The J. Geils Band, best known for “Love Stinks,” will be the opening act.
Well, at least he spelled ‘Geils’ right.
I am so flabagasted I have nothing to say. It speaks for itself.
BTW Thomas, Real Bostonians are going to go and enjoy Peter and Danny and Magic Dick and J. and Seth and the new guy drummer rock the place with real pure rock and roll. Then they’ll be home and in bed before Steven finishes his second bottle of Jack.
Joan Vennochi was sooo right today.
What we read about Boston – locally and nationally – does not mesh with what we see first hand. When the owners of local sports teams are the big shots in town, then we gut problems baby.
Get wise people. Think for yourselves.

Heard this blasting from a motorcycle the other night … this is a good live performance, in spite of the fact that they’re all 97 years old …

Every morning I wake to another report of DeLeo and the House doing the people’s work in secret and with pockets full of special interest groups’ cash. Transparency in government is not on the agenda. If you support casinos/slots, do you feel right about it having to be debated in secret, closed sessions? If you don’t, do you feel right about not knowing how to judge your reps on what they say or do in these sessions? Do you feel good about being denied knowledge of how and why your government is governing?
<
p>I have slogged through the 172 pages and even casino proponents have no idea as to the bureaucracy being created and no one has any clue as to its ultimate costs. The bill is being rammed through as if someone’s life is at stake. It truly is ridiculous governmental conduct.
<
p>I am opposed to this casino/slot bill but my passion for open government trumps my opposition. THis process has been flawed by the Democrats controlling the legislature and they are doing themselves and the Democratic party a shocking disservice by exuding the arrogance of power.
<
p>I have been a registered Democrat all my life and I am frustrated. It is the Democrats that are responsible here for secret deals, appearances of conflict and treating the people of the Commonwealth who do not agree with no respect.
<
p>And people actually debate why SB defeated our candidate in the senate election? Silly.

And there are a ton more gaming industry lobbyists giving money to our legislators then its not surprising that the legislature does not have time for public hearings. They have already heard from everyone they need to – deep pockets gambling lobbyists.
<
p>Lida Harkins is running for re-election. Her campaign is funded by every lobbyists out there. About 30 of them in the last 4 months. And six of them have ties to gambling interests, Suffolk Downs, Harrah’s, casino land developers etc.

p>There is a progressive Democratic alternative, Peter Smulowitz. No lobbyist money and he’s against casinos. The primary is April 13th.
<
p>Massachusetts doesn’t have an independent progressive Democratic party any more. Lets bring that back and tainted hacks like Harkins out.
