I’ll be on the Emily Rooney show today at noon, on WGBH radio (89.7 FM, or live-stream at this link), to talk about the Governor’s race. Garrett Quinn, formerly of RMG but now a fancy-pants Globe blogger, will be on as well.
Good timing for this topic. In just the last 24 hours, we’ve seen Charlie Baker fire his campaign manager; Tim Cahill respond to a huge negative ad buy by the Republican Governors Association; Baker flip-flop on spending and public employee unions when it comes to the Quinn bill and police details; and Deval Patrick prepare to receive the Secretary of the Interior to announce what could be will be extremely good news both for Massachusetts and for his reelection campaign. Not to mention today’s Globe story pointing out that Baker’s record is not exactly pure when it comes either to taxes or to spending. Add to that Baker’s impressive sleight-of-hand in turning a huge convention victory into a PR debacle over the transgender anti-discrimination bill in which, among other things, he publicly embarrassed his hand-picked Lt. Gov. nominee, his hilarious gaffe in which he declared that a $1.75 million salary qualifies as “middle class,” and a poll showing him trailing Tim Cahill, and we’ve got ourselves a race that has been turned upside-down within the last couple of weeks.
So. What should we talk about?

thought dumping your campaign manager mid-stream was not a big deal. Might be more wishful thinking.
