If you are looking for like minded people in your community, scheduling an environmental event is a great way to reach them. It’s also a way for your members and their families to have some time together and to make a positive contribution to society.
During April, there is a lot of natural publicity for events with environmental themes.
– Scheduling a hike or a cleanup is an easy way to make a difference. It is especially easy to send a team to an existing event. The Brookline DTC is sending a team to help weatherize a building. THis kind of event is a great way to raise your group’s profile in the community.
– Conduct a discussion of what individuals can do to reduce their impact on the environment. Everyone can do something that will make a difference. Little ideas like taking coat hangers back to the dry cleaners or reducing the amount of dry cleaning can make a difference!
– The Earth Day swap is my favorite! I’ve done these at my office. Just go through your house. It’s amazing the things that people acquire. And what you find useless, other people can put to good use. There is on important requirement. If you bring something, you must leave with something. It really is fun!

p>The swap is a great way to accomplish the “reuse” part of “reduce, reuse, recycle.” I’ve passed on some neat stuff that people have liked and obtained things that really suited me.
<
p>The first time I did it with my co-workers, everyone laughed but we all had fun.
