On March 29th the following was posted on BMG about Cahill’s fundraising emails to State House folks. The well written and highly effective post is at:
This is the extraordinarily well written post:
Apparently unsatisfied with merely pushing the legal limits, Tim has moved straight into violating campaign finance law:
State Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill, an independent gubernatorial candidate already facing questions about his fund-raising practices, today sent a fund-raising appeal to the official government e-mail address of every state representative and state senator, in violation of campaign finance laws.
Jason Tait, a spokesman for the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance, said state law expressly prohibits sending such appeals to a government employee’s official e-mail address.
“The campaign finance laws prohibit solicitations in government buildings,” Tait said. “That includes sending solicitations by snail mail, verbal solicitations and e-mail solicitations.”Cahill’s campaign acknowledged the violation and apologized for it in an e-mail three hours later to state legislators.
Well, well, well…
It appears that Johnnie from Abington, a professional insurance salesman, follows the rules about as well as Tim the Treasurer from Quincy.
From boston.com
BOSTON –As it turns out, Tim Cahill and the Democrats do have something in common.
Four weeks after the Independent gubernatorial candidate was fingered for sending illicit fundraising solicitations to official State House email addresses, the state Democratic Party is defending as a mistake similar emails disseminated by party chairman John Walsh.“It has come to our attention that a very small percentage – about 1 percent – of emails sent by the Party went to government email addresses,” Democratic Party executive director Stacey Monahan said in a statement to the News Service.
State Republican Party officials intend to file a complaint Tuesday with the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance, and party chairwoman Jennifer Nassour used the misstep as a platform to light into Democratic leadership on Beacon Hill.
“One-party rule on Beacon Hill has bred a culture of corruption and indifference to state laws which is apparent by the inability of so many Democrats to follow even the most basic campaign finance rules,” she said. “The Democrats need to start respecting the law and should immediately disclose and refund all of their ill-gotten gains.”
Two of the emails in question, obtained by the News Service, were sent within the past week and requested donations of $10 to $50 to support Democratic Senate candidate Sal DiDomenico of Cambridge, and donations of $25 to $100 to back Attleboro Democrat Peter Smulowitz, who is running for the seat formerly held by U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.
Just wondering where the author of the well written Cahill post is now that Johnnie the insurance sales guy from Abington has been bagged?
Ah, the double standard!!

…an that is an insult to used car salesmen…
<
p>Mr. Reason twice refers to this “well written” post…and I will admit that the author “huh” is a good writer, they were only responsible for the first sentence and the rest was a quote from the OCPF…but Johnny Reason had no reason to tell us.
<
p>Secondly, Mr Reason can’t drum up a quote from John Walsh criticizing Cahill, yet frames his post to make it seem that Walsh did just that. I’d be happy to buy insurance from John Walsh, but apparently after if you buy anything from Johnny Reason–check your wallet.

And no my good friend I did not attempt to leave the impression that insurance sales guy Walsh said anything wrong about Treasurer Cahill. In fact, my post was all about hypocrisy. Cahill screws up he gets pocked by the gentleman named ***. Walsh screws up and not a word to be heard. I guess the bigger point is that we have lots of time between today and Nov 3. They are all going to F up so be nice and be kind and be fair.
<
p>Good night and God Bless. Tell your pal *** I said he’s guilty of hypocrisy given his one sided poke at Treas Tim and his apparent want to look the other way when Walshie F’s up.
<
p>Oh yea, BTW. I do not sell cars. That would be kinda creapy.

p>Johnny, it’s the phone. It’s for you. It’s Reality. He wants you to get back in touch.
Sorry, Reality. Johnny can’t come to the phone right now. He’s busy with his paranoid fantasies. Can I take your number? He’ll call back in a few years when he’s done.

and knows exactly what is going on. Enjoy your fun, but note that November is going to be real fun. By the way, didn’t DeLeo et al look like a bunch of damn fools this past week? Where was the revenue (TAXES!) that you libs so gleefully want and where was all the courage? Study after study, most of which will never be completed. Not the best moment for a body of government that has few best moments.

Why can’t johnny spell his own name?

<
p>By the way, great job my DeLeo and the gang this week. Is that the best you Dems have to offer? I know, let’s do a study and defer the problems into the next fiscal year and maybe even into the next generation. That’s worked so well thus far so let’s screw the next group of taxpayers.

p>Bob DeLeo..A leader we can count on if we own a racetrack!

Likely we’ve seen Johnnie/Johnny before under a different handle. Not getting the spelling straight could be an indicator of frequent account creation.

…and both acknowledge it. The one difference I can see is that Tim Cahill is himself a public official while John Walsh is not – next case!

The point of the article (and my post) is that Tim’s fund raising had already been called into question:

<
p>That said, my failure to post about Mr. Walsh does not make me a hypocrite. I frankly hadn’t heard about it until “MA Independent Voter” sent a nasty letter to my personal mailbox. I then decided that not responding was the wise thing to do…
<
p>The good news is I now know who has been sending me anonymous hate mail.
