After the special election the voters of Commonwealth had enough of attack ads and robo calls. The airwaves where filled with garbage and my phone never stopped ringing the last week of the campaign. I think the special election was the high water mark of annoying campaign gimmicks in modern campaign history. Charlie Baker is trying to prove me wrong by launching a huge robo call and negative ad campaign months before the gubernatorial election.

Once again the voters of Massachusetts are being targeted by negative ad and robo campaigns with out-of-state friends of Charlie Baker paying the bills. These friends did such a big ad buy that it’s been impossible to miss the ads against Tim Cahill. Over the last week they have also paid for a big Push Poll that is now being deployed: you know, the automated call that asks which candidate you are supporting proceeds to give you phony, negative facts about the non-Baker candidates. If you have not received one of these calls it is only because you were not home when they called. Not to worry — they will call you back. Governor Patrick and Treasurer Cahill have shown great leadership by renouncing these types of tactics and demanding that this campaign be about the issues not “Gotcha” games. Join this cause and demand Baker stop the Negative Ads and Robo Calls
