The politicians and officials have latched on to creating and exploiting fear in us. They are shameless.
We must rise above this for our own good. We must become again a land of law, not of men. Otherwise is unthinkable.
Is it too late?

International law I believe considers it a violation of human rights to make someone “a man without a country”. Anyone born here has no other country and anyone naturalized was required to swear off all other allegiances. The 14th amendment refers to “all persons born or naturalized” and does not recognize any distinction for the purpose of legal protections. As far as I can tell the only distinction between a born citizen and a naturalized citizen is that the former can become POTUS, but the latter cannot.
Great reference TZ was one of the best programs on American television and certainly the best American science fiction program (Im a trekkie but TZ was much deeper and covered a wider array of sci-fi sub-genres and had better writers).

p>Also an apt reference as the hysteria that episode alluded to (fear of aliens as an allegory for fear of communists) are the same here. I fear anyone who mentions ‘fifth column’. Certainly there are bad US citizens here, even some that commit terrorists and act in sleeper cells. I do not see how any of their actions differ from criminal actions in terms of how the law should prosecute it. We have had Americans defect to the enemy before in our history, never has their citizenship been stripped. Brown is on the wrong side of history and is starting to show his extremist colors that were hiding under his moderate facade. 2012 can’t come soon enough!
