What did Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?
Here is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.
I didn’t know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the
deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American
citizens that desperately needed work..
Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal’s after WWII to create jobs
for returning veterans.
And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million
Mexican Nationals! The program was called ‘Operation Wetback’. It was
done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs.
It took 2 Years, but they deported them!

Actually, not bad.
<
p>You’re off by a factor of 10 on Eisenhower (see here). It was called Operation Wetback, and well paid about as much attention to civil rights and it did ethnic sensibilities.
<
p>Hoover did launch Mexican Repatriation (here). California later apologized for its role in the deportations.
<
p>Truman continued Roosevelts policy of a guest worker program for Mexican laborers that started during World War II.
<
p>This immigration issue is not a new one. We have, and probably will, go through cycles of anti-immigrant hysteria. And, probably, continue to wink at the constitution in the midst of dealing with it.

Wow, was that not considered a slur back then or did people just not care?
