Multiply this process over and over again as insurers and providers make all sorts of deals that are essentially self serving. In the background are negotiators and bean counters that have to be paid to make these deals happen. They will also hire some PR people to try to convince you that you are somehow better off(a la Partner’s recent rebuttal) . As the 2 parties here slap each other on the back who do you think picks up the tab? Kudos to the Globe for showing in microcosm what is occurring day to day without any oversight.
