In May we thought we only needed one Republican Senator on board, but now it’s clear this funding is in greater danger than previously expected. Please urge Sen. Brown’s support now.
This is by no means polished, but here’s the quick note I sent, which you can feel free to borrow from:
Dear Senator Brown,
I’m writing to urge you to support the FMAP extension.
The $690 million that this will bring to the Commonwealth are critical during this time of economic recovery. I understand many folks are weary of the federal government’s spending; however, now more than ever our states need help. More than 45 states have cut critical services to vulnerable people, and until we see full economic recovery, we need to help preserve that safety net.
If you need further proof of how necessary this funding is, please review this report documenting just some of the tough decisions that Massachusetts and the rest of the country have been force to make: http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index….
Failing to support this funding would be a grave disservice to the voters you are sworn to represent, especially those with the least amount of influence in our political system. I hope we can count on you to represent the interests of the people of your state.
Thank you,
Kevin Gilnack

p>This is a critical first step toward helping keep MA’s community safety-net strong by bringing nearly $700 million back to our state.
<
p>It’s more important than ever that Scott Brown knows we’re paying attention and want this investment brought back to our communities.
