LaGuer Unanimously Denied Parole

For most of the people who were at the parole board hearing this decision was a forgone conclusion after listening to the board pepper LaGuer with questions about the original case and at times witnessing emotional outbursts from board members during the exchange.

During the Commonwealth’s statement ADA Sandra Hautanen stoutly refuted LaGuer’s claim that he turned down a plea bargain in 1983. In this instance the Commonwealth is provably wrong:

This latest error comes on the heels of so many others before it:

  • The state lost fingerprint evidence from the phone used to bind the victim that did not belong to LaGuer, and in fact did not inform his attorney of their existence.
  • The victim claimed a knife was held against her throat during the attack, Lt. Hebert witnessed the knife on a table, yet it was never entered into evidence.
  • Evidence collected from the crime scene was not submitted to the state police crime lab until several days after it was recovered.
  • How is the state in custody of Ben LaGuer’s undergarments when they have no record of taking them?
  • Why have the chain of custody documents that show who last had all the missing pieces of evidence been withheld from the public?

    Let’s take LaGuer out of the equation long enough to ask ourselves one simple question; is this the justice you want for yourself or your loved ones?
