I found the comment at the end of the article that Gov. Patrick is looking for funds to “renovate” Tewksbury, et. al. of interest as well.

p>Life with certain issues is “progress, not perfection” and a facility like the one described in this article is often needed as part of that process – I know, one of our children needed an inpatient period for inpatient 24/7 care and med adjustment – and as a result, is living independently now, because he received what he needed then.
<
p>While it is to be hoped that the population that will need long term hospital care is small, there are some who do need this – and others who if they receive intensive care when they need it, will make the progress required to never need hospitalization again.
<
p>Medicine should be pragmatic, not about ideological rigidity. Those who are in true need must be treated quickly – and leave the ideological wars behind as to community vs. residential.
<
p>As a society, we will ultimately be judged by history not by how the tigerish predators amongst us enrich themselves, but by how we care for the truely vulnerable, including but not limited to the wards of the state, the physically and neurologically disabled, and the cognitively limited.

The administration is right to set up facilities for the mental patients that need it.
<
p>A lot of these patients are hallucinating. And there hallucinations are reality to them.
<
p>If there are places that can get them taken care of, and it’s done correctly, and they leave, they will be able to take care of themselves.
<
p>The cost of taking care of these people now is pennies on the dollar that would be spent on them later if they go untreated.
<
p>The administration is setting up needed facilities, not ignoring problems to get good press from gasbags.
<
p>And I say good.
<
p>This governor’s race has shown me something about Deval Patrick and Tim Murray. They are deep thinkers who look at many different factors and use logic and reason to solve problems.

Wants to CLOSE these facilities! I have ample personal experience with MR and Alzheimers patients. I know what I’m referring to.

In advance. Your last line describes democrats perfectly. How’s that for stereotyping. I already apologized. I abhor stereotyping.

but I have a feeling I probably wouldn’t care that much.
