Missed this one a few weeks ago, but it’s not too late to be newsworthy. Suzanne Bump got the endorsement of the Boston Ward 4 Democratic Committee, Mike Lake’s own ward committee. David Wedge from the Boston Herald reported this about the contest:
Suzanne Bump continues to rack up the endorsements in her bid to succeed state Auditor Joe DeNucci, including winning support in one of her Democratic opponent’s own back yards.
Bump, Gov. Deval Patrick’s former labor czarina, landed the endorsement this week from Boston’s Ward 4, which includes the South End neighborhood where her opponent, Mike Lake, lives.
Lake shrugged off the neighborhood snub, calling it “a classic example of institutional politics backing a career politician.”
And what were those institutional politics backing Suzanne Bump, Mike? Weren’t Ward 4’s elected officials supporting you? Do you mean the Democratic Party’s grassroots activists in Ward 4? And serving as a State Representative for a few terms 20 years ago makes Suzanne Bump a “career politician”?
Disclosure: I know Suzanne Bump, worked for her for a time, and support her candidacy for State Auditor.

Sounds like sour grapes on Lake’s part. Obviously the good people of Ward 4 (and the other Boston wards who have endorsed Bump) recognize the most qualified candidate.

…you can’t really fault Mike Like for being disappointed in losing his own ward. I wonder if he worked it or made assumptions. Seems a classic lesson from Tip O’Neill who relates that he lost his first bid for public office because he took his own neighborhood for granted.

It’s fun watching Speed Bump and Mikey fight over the table scraps and tear each other apart.
This kind of bad judgement is why wingnuts on both sides don’t get elected. If they joined forces there are probably enough moonbats to propel one of them to victory, but instead, Our Guy will win with the help of working class centrist Dems and Indies.
Democrats, if you’re serious about keeping this seat out of Republican hands, unite behind the winner now and stop tearing him down with all the accusations.
Let’s look at some recent electoral math:
<
p>In last Tuesday’s Republican primary for Governor of Micigan, a well-funded centrist, Rick Snyder, got 37% of the vote and won because 3 conservatives split the wingnut vote.
<
p>In the Tennesee GOP Governor primary, a well-funded centrist by the name of Bill Haslam won with 48% while two tea partiers split the 52% conservative vote.
<
p>Which is the exact same thing that happened and let the centrist Bob Corker win the TN GOP Senate primary in 2006, with, you guessed it, 48%. And Corker actually went on to win, unlike Moonbat Coakley (Pags 2012!). You need a moderate to win over real voters.
<
p>This is exacly what’s going to happen in the Auditor’s race. I know the candidates are too proud to accept their inevitable defeat, but rank and file activists need to get over your egoes and help the Democratic nominee now instead of trying to soften him up for Joe Malone’s enforcer.

Two posts lifetime, both pro Guy, both similar to the posts from other posters (unite behind Guy, working class yadda yadda, rationalizing with electability).
<
p>Personally, I don’t have a problem with your post; I welcome you to the discussion. Since you’re new to posting, I just want to make sure you understand that it’s expected that you divulge any official status you have with the Glodis campaign.

I just saw Guy speak at my congressman’s rally and liked him. I figure if Stevie was his mentor he can’t be too bad. Y’all don’t like Stevie, but he’s always been a friend to the working man.
<
p>Rationalizing? If by that you mean being rational… Look, Guy’s been vetted by the press. Bernstein did a hit piece on him right before the convention. But Connaughton’s going to destroy Bump or Lake by asking the questions the media hasn’t. Bernstein doesn’t mention Bump’s time as a health insurance lobbyist anywhere. And he did what looks like a hit piece on Mikey, except he threw some pretty soft punches. Didn’t even question the claim that he got five degrees. Maybe I’m beiong lied to but a friend at northeastern tells me they don’t even let ou do five majors.
