A short blog post with a lot of meaning is a valuable commodity, so I recommend Paul Waldman’s few paragraphs on Tapped titled, “Leave Mitt Romney Alone!” The argument that Romnney has been framed (correctly) as a flip-flopper and he can’t do anything about it is right on. He also links to David Frum’s very good piece in the Globe on Romney’s disgusting stance on the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque.” It’s amazing how far back into rationality Frum has traveled. I have on my shelf his book (co-authored with the Strangelovian Richard Perle) “An End to Evil.” No, I will not link to anything, anywhere that sells this tome, but I will quote Lewis H. Lapham’s review in Harpers: “The result of their collaboration is an ugly harangue that if translated into Arabic and reconfigured with a few changes of word and emphasis (the objects of fear and loathing identified as America and Israel in place of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations) might serve as a lesson taught to a class of eager Jihadists at a madrasa in Kandahar” To come back from such depths of awfulness is cheering. So cheers to David Frum. And more jeers to Willard.
