Here’s Senator Brown’s radio ad:
Brown: This is United States Senator Scott Brown with a message for the people of the 10th Congressional District. You have another chance to shake up the status quo in Washington on Tuesday, November 2nd by electing Jeff Perry as your next congressman. We need Jeff working in Congress to cut out wasteful spending and get going on a jobs program that will turn our economy around.
Sadly, Jeff’s opponent in this race, Bill Keating, has decided to focus almost entirely on negative attacks concerning an incident that took place almost two decades ago and which didn’t directly involve Jeff. These are the same ugly tactics that were used against me in my campaign for the United States Senate. You saw through those attacks then, and I hope you’ll do the same now.
Jeff is a decent and honorable person and I would be proud to have him join me in bringing common sense back to Washington.
This is United States Senator Scott Brown. Get out on Tuesday, November 2nd and send a powerful message. Send Jeff Perry to the United States Congress.
I think it’s extremely unlikely that this ad was recorded in the wake of today’s news. First, they would have had to do that really fast. Second, though, it doesn’t line up with what happened today.
Bill Keating, has decided to focus almost entirely on negative attacks concerning an incident that took place almost two decades ago
There is no connection between today’s news and the Keating campaign. The statement is from Ms. Allen herself, and the Keating campaign’s reaction was extremely mild and did not mention Perry.
an incident that took place almost two decades ago and which didn’t directly involve Jeff.
Ah, but there’s the rub. According to Ms. Allen, the incident did directly involve Jeff, because he was present, he was aware of what happened, and he could have stepped in but chose not to. So if Brown released this statement after seeing today’s news, he is disbelieving the victim of a sexual assault. I seriously doubt that he wants to put himself in that position.
Jeff is a decent and honorable person and I would be proud to have him join me in bringing common sense back to Washington.
Again, in light of today’s news, Jeff’s “decency” and “honor” are very much in question. I doubt that Brown would have injected himself into the middle of the sh!tstorm that this story has suddenly become.
So come on, Senator. Don’t sully yourself with this guy. Do the right thing and un-endorse Jeff Perry.
Jeff Perry was an on duty police officer. He was carrying a gun and badge. He was the very symbol of authority.
<
p>He did nothing and has subsequently lied about it at every opportunity.
<
p>Like you, I have no clue about whether or not his behavior is illegal or criminal.
<
p>I am a father, and I do know that I have absolutely nothing in common with those who would put Jeff Perry in any public office given knowledge of these facts.
Jim McKenna is to give the Lincoln Oration at the 146th Lincoln Dinner
<
p>I have to presume that Perry will be there at one of the tables.
The Middlesex Club is a little too middle of the road.
Actually, it was at least three incidents, one of which not only directly involved Perry, but was at Perry’s own instigation: His unauthorized visit to the other victim’s house to dissuade her parents from reporting Flanagan’s earlier abuse.
That was so funny I almost forgot we’re talking about sexual assaults on teenagers.
<
p>Almost.
where do you go, as a law enforcement officer, to get authorization to bully and intimidate a sexual assault victim on New Year’s Eve.
Let the record show, PP.
<
p>A pity: you can do better!
Does baker support perry? Does polito? Does connaughton? Mittens and brown have been helping their campaigns, so they can’t oppose perry, but I would hate to admit supporting him if I were them. If the mass democratic party is too incompetent to send a tracker to some of their events to get their answers on camera, we need a change in leadership.
It’s not incompetence. It’s ignorance of just how low your opponent is willing to go. Maybe it’s because Democrats want to believe in the best in people. If the Dems don’t start their own astroturf organizations, and if rich liberals/progressives don’t start pumping money and organizing at the level of the Koch Brothers or Mellon-Scaife, we’re screwed.
Republican commentator on ‘BUR this am, did more than distance himself from Perry, he actually piled on and provided more examples of Perry lying.

… and then calls on Mitt to speak up.
