Government creates markets.
What, you thought they emerged spontaneously from the moral fabric of the universe? Markets are based on property rights.
Who defines those rights? The government.
If someone robs you, who do you call? The government.
Who decides what theft is? The same. Who provides a remedy (or at least, who should do so)? Asked and answered.
The current long depression recession economic-recovery-that-only-lifts-a-few-yachts is a product of government’s failure in this respect, as market fundamentalism prevailed and robbed “government, government, government” of its power to regulate and guarantee markets.
Predictably, individuals took advantage of that failure to enrich themselves while crashing the world economy and destroying hundreds of millions of jobs.
Okay, lets put this into a soundbite.
Never again should looters and thieves strip government of the power to protect your jobs, your homes, and your savings from looters and thieves.
Government, government, government.

Since currently the market is being profoundly affected by manipulation at the hands of powerful private entities, we definitely need it countered and held in check by the government that is supposed to have the knowledge and tools to protect us. I could have sworn that that is what pushed Barack Obama and Democratic majorities into office in 2008-the desire by the electorate for that very protection. I suppose we are taking baby steps in the right direction, or more likely one step forward, two steps back.
But I think what people wanted was a giant leap. The longer they wait, the more damage is being done. The people on Wall Street won’t be satisfied until we are completely annihilated as an economy; they will take their cash and hit the road running. The stock market is a fraud, or as you say, “looters and thieves”. You are exactly right.

why action on this front, by those who claim to be the good guys on this issue, has not been more decisive.
<
p>But, it’s not a failure that logically drives me into the arms of the opposition–of the looters and thieves.

first hand, the government creating PRIVATE SECTOR jobs. The building of schools, bridges, and roads are 3 things that create Pivate sector jobs through government spending.

p>Also Mr. Sean Beilat(R) for congress is supported by government spending, through our Pentagon. I-ROBOT makes military robots to difuse IEDs. If the US Gov. decided to cut out that portion of spending his company would see a reduction in workforce.
<
p>So if Mr. Beilat claims government doesn’t create jobs, call him out on it, because HIS job was created through government spending.
