Well, you may have heard this, and it ain't good … except if you're “Osama=Obama” Bill Hudak:
The wife of US Representative John F. Tierney is poised to plead guilty today to federal tax charges for managing a bank account that her brother allegedly used to deposit millions of dollars in illegal gambling profits raked in from an offshore sports betting operation in Antigua.
How's that for an October Surprise? (Not entirely, since she was indicted in August)
I will say that I haven't heard much from Tierney throughout this campaign. Aside from Baker's treating of Hudak like the crazy uncle of the family … this race hasn't been on the radar screen. Let's hope it stays that way. I assume Tierney has some plans … ?

Chanel 4 this morning when reporting the story added “Coincidentally John Tierny voted against a bill aimed at curbing such companies. The bill passed anyway.” Just a coincidence. No story here folks. Move along.

That really singles him out as uniquely acting in favor of a personal special interest.

About 78% of the House voted FOR the regulation he voted against. So, yeah, it DOES look like he had a special interest.

Tierney/Hudak is the sleeper race in MA this year. Frank/Bielat will be a fairly easy win for Frank, despite the right’s Pavlovian response to anyone challenging Barney Frank – because Frank is taking things seriously and is working to be reelected. But Hudak is a good campaigner, and he has quite a bit of personal wealth that he’s apparently willing to spend – nearly $235,000 so far, according to the FEC. And I frankly haven’t seen a lot of evidence that Tierney is campaigning super-hard.

p>If there’s an upset in MA this year, Tierney/Hudak will be it. You heard it here first. :/

David,

p>I think the GOP picks up three or four. Perry is a lock, Keating has no narrative other than can you believe how bad Perry is. That didn’t work so well for Malone did it? Tied for second would be Golnik and Hudak and if we get four it will be either Bielat or Wesley.

in bizarro world. In the real world, I don’t think you get any in Massachusetts. Maybe 1.

Sounds more like money laundering than mere tax evasion. She’ll be very lucky to get away with probation.

It seems that for each election year the Department of Justice nabs a politician or their staff or family. Just as the IRS nabs somebody for tax evasion at tax filing time each year.
