Well it’s another in a long line of Veterans day’s. A time to look back in 20/20 hindsight, and think of those people who didn’t make it. This one’s a lot different than the others because those guy’s are lucky they didn’t get to see the present state of the country they died for. The political atmosphere of the country has deadened my sense of loss, I always feel on this day.
Instead of scolding them guy’s for getting killed, I find myself saying they’re probably lucky they haven’t seen the cost of the bush years. They’d be shocked to know that we just had a former president all but confessing to “War Crimes”, which by my estimate has cost between 500 to 1000 American deaths in Afghanistan. Their actions was the best recruiting tool the Taliban had. We won’t even get into the cost both now and fifty years from now, if we survive that long as a nation.
I’d love to hear what they have say to about these Chicken hawks who ducked out of service in our war, but had no problem sending troops off to these two unnecessary wars and than prolonging it by their use of inhumane treatment of the people we were supposed to be helping. Had they served in our war maybe they would have known better than to give a wink and a nod to abuse. Colin Powell certainly warned them.
What would they say about those fools in Oklahoma who voted to ban the use of Sharia law even though it would have been blatantly unconstitutional anyway? Would they not see parallels to how the Nazi’s treated the Jews’
Would they not compare fox news to the Nazi propaganda machine of Goebbles?
What would they say about Funding tax cuts for the wealthy by making cuts to Medicaid and the people who could least afford it? That’s the new America. The wealthy have mobilized useful idiots to do their bidding in a class war that is about to explode.
What would they say about that t-party and their selfish agenda as well as the selfish agenda of the people who finance them with the money they saved on the bush tax cuts..
I’m sure they would say this isn’t the country they died for. Personally had I known my country would evolve into what it now is, I would proudly replace the Purple Heart on my license plates for a symbol of a chicken hawk. Why I was willing risk being among those long dead for these people is beyond ability to comprehend my own actions. It certainly has me wondering what happened. I firmly believe nobody should serve in combat if they don’t want to,but neither should they be the people beating on the war drums.
