After posting about 2012 I realized there’s one more piece of political business to tie up this year’s loose ends, namely party leadership in the Congress. Whom do you all like for leaders?
For a while I was saying it might be OK for Reid to lose if that’s what it took to force a new leader, but I didn’t want Angle and even Sue Loudon (of barter for health care fame) wasn’t an attractive choice. Durbin and Schumer were said to contest that position if it became vacant, but I would still prefer Schumer anyway. Also, what about DSCC chair? I think it’s clear we need one who appreciates the grassroots approach that has proven to work.
In the House Pelosi will likely relinquish leadership to Hoyer, but I’m not sure that excites me. The DCCC should also have a chair that knows grassroots. What say you?
I like Dick Durbin. Nice guy, good lib, speaks clearly, tougher (I think) than Harry. Schumer is too harsh, too brazen, and too beholden to Wall St. That said, he’ll probably get it, for exactly those reasons.
