Lesson. These votes to punish incumbents, to punish Democrats, have been cast. The Democrats have been punished. No sense doing that again. In fact, the reality is that voters are going to be looking at some wacky new incumbents that range from distasteful to downright embarrassing. With a GOP majority in the house, there will be lots of room for these folks to propose legislation that will breed disapproval. Two years from now, with an expanded Presidential-year electorate, I think an equal and opposite reaction will bring back the blue in many places. Including a new junior senator from Massachusetts.
