We are sitting around the table having a very nice Chrismas Eve Lunch and my Dad and his Girl friend are with us. The subject of politics comes up. And it seem that Mr. Alicia was at the Senior Center (In Oxford/MM) this week talking about how he has to go to court to get the election settled. Then it comes up that Mr. Alicia did not pay for his meal. Granted it’s $2.00 for the meal and .25 for a cup of coffee. It seems to me that Mr. Alicia should have paid for his meal.
Wonder how many other free meals he gets?
Two bucks? Wow, the economy is in a bigger trench than I thought, when a State Rep. can’t afford two dollars for a crappy meal.
So still taking shots at Alicea or maybe not since the crosspost didn’t even spell his name right.

p>The man’s name is Alicea. This from the Mass House website:

p>If you and your crossposters can’t even get his name right why would we pay attention to your posts? Having trouble with Latino names? Or just State Representative Geraldo Alicea’s name?
<
p>Perhaps you should learn the correct spelling. It will be on the ballot for the re-run soon!
Was from a not so politically active person. I spelled it correctly. I took the post as written. I did state it was in Oxford. I thought that was somewhat important.
Maybe the fact that democrats are trying to steal an election should be concerning. I have seen the facsimile of the spoiled ballot. It would have already been thrown out by anyone else.
Shoot, If Alicea is squeezing two bucks, what’s he doing on a larger scale.
Good thing Southbridge never received the half million he was promised for BUYING his vote on gay marriage. That’s way too much money for him to handle.
I am glad to see your response was to try to demonize me. That means you have no reasonable reply.
I’ve seen the “spoiled” ballot too. It seems pretty clearly to be a vote for Alicea. And I suspect that’s what the courts will rule, though I suppose anything can happen.
I’m not an election lawyer, or a lawyer at all for that matter, but I have been a witness for a candidate in a recount and I have seen a representation of this ballot on the Worcester Telegram’s website.
<
p>Voter intent is what matters and the mark on this ballot, a scribble, really, is partially in the box next to Rep. Alicea’s name and partly out of that box. It’s clear the voter intended to vote for Rep. Alicea. The question then comes as to whether the overvote in the governor’s race, voting for two candidates, disqualifies the entire ballot. In Illinois there are specific regulations that say an overvote in one race does NOT disqualify the rest of the ballot. I searched online and could not find a similar regulation for Massachusetts, but I’m guessing it’s out there.
<
p>And as to whether Rep. Alicea payed for his meal or not, it’s hearsay and irrelevant to the determination on the ballot.
Umm… no the cheap SOB did not pay for his meal. I was witness to it, and can provide two other witnesses to it.
The ballot is a mess, I believe it came from a spoiled ballot box, and deserves to be thrown out!
“I believe it came from a spoiled ballot box”
