If not now, when? If not you, then who? And I know these folks, and this group – 100% of any donations go to the kids; no paid staff, no professional fundraising, no political donations – 100% goes to the kids.
Deb Sirotkin Butler
Poor kids, teens, and families.
All involved in the court system. Many trying to make changes in their lives.
But without funds to help them do this.
All have court-appointed attorneys and social workers trying to help.
But there are few state agencies these days and they have almost no resources.
So these professionals ask us for assistance so they can help their motivated clients turn their lives around.
And we can help them- because you help us.
Who are we?
(Helping court-involved kids make positive changes)
And who are you?

One Can Help, makes it possible for indigent, court-involved children, teens and families, to make positive changes in their lives. Working together with their court-appointed lawyers and social workers, we provide an opportunity for people to get the help they need when no state funds are available.
*
Your contributions are only used to help people. No salaries or overhead are paid from your donation. Because we work collaboratively with the court-appointed attorneys and social workers who are already monitoring these people, we are able to staff this organization with a board of professionals from the community who donate their time and skills in support of this important cause.
*
We try to encourage people in bad situations to achieve goals which may make it possible for them to avoid the need for future court-intervention, by helping with counseling. day care, afterschool activities, school supplies, transportation costs, and various other basic goods and services.*
Everyone needs additional support sometimes.Ideally, we all have family and friends to rely on when we need help and encouragement. Unfortunately however, there are many people who come from backgrounds where no reliable support networks exist at all.*
Substance abuse, mental health issues, poverty, domestic violence, and/or child neglect, cause problems which can have ramifications for every member of a family, often for generation after generation, unless a way is found to break the cycle. And this is what we try to do through this non-profit organization.
*
Not all problems can be fixed, but our goal is to provide assistance when a particular need has been identified by the court-appointed lawyers and social workers who work with the client, which they believe could really make a difference.
*
Sometimes only small amounts of assistance are needed, but even that minimal sum can be enough to enable a person to make the type of changes that ultimately turn their life around.

Things you might also like to know about us:One Can Help was started in 2007.
It was initially conceived of by a court-appointed attorney who became frustrated trying to find funds to help her neediest clients get services.
Other court-appointed attorneys also felt the same way of course, and she frequently saw her colleagues and even the judges themselves also dipping into their own pockets in order to help these children and families.
Sometimes friends offered to help when she described how children suffered, and how relatively minor things could make a huge difference in a person’s life.
Once, even a stranger approached her while she was in a café working with a young very pregnant teen client trying to think of ways to get diapers and a baby carriage, and he wrote a check to pay for those things right on the spot… The girl (ok, and the lawyer), cried!
It soon became obvious that people were willing to help when they could see that their money would really be used to directly help people in a tangible way.
One Can Help is now jointly run by a Board that is primarily comprised of court-appointed attorneys and other professionals who lend their skills and time for this purpose – we all volunteer!
We have given out almost 200 grants since then. Working together with many other court-appointed attorneys in the field, One Can Help has become a fund that is supported and credited by the attorneys and social workers that have used it, for actually turning some of their clients’ lives around – one by one.
We are slowly expanding. We are now able to cover all the areas surrounding the juvenile courts that service Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
