On Tuesday, January 25, President Barack Obama will address both chambers of Congress, the Supreme Court, other leaders from the administration, and millions of Americans to deliver his State of the Union Address.
Where have we come over the last year? What does the shift of power in the House mean? How can we restore civility to public discourse? What should we look forward to in the year to come?
While the President and Democrats in Congress made great strides in helping our economy recover and advancing our values, there are still big challenges and big opportunities facing our nation. Save the date for Tuesday 1/25 from 7:30 – 10:30 to connect with Young Democrats in your area to watch the President’s State of the Union Address!
Local YDM chapters are currently finalizing locations for State of the Union watch parties across Massachusetts. Make sure that you receive the details by joining your chapter’s Facebook Group:
- Greater Boston Young Democrats

Democratically,
Jonathan

I could host up to 12 and have folks see and hear, though it would take both the upstairs and downstairs in my small house, and one room would be on a laptop. I would also travel to someone elses location in order to participate in a State of the Union watch gathering.

Alas I will be in Florida that day. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it. Maybe if there is a bar or restaurant where BMGers can gather it would be helpful.

p>That reminds me of a discussion a while back about what we call ourselves.

While we generally target our invites to young Democrats who might be interested in getting involved, all are more than welcome to attend YDM events! We welcome candidates, DTC & DSC members, campaign and/or state house staff, consultants, bloggers, observers and anyone else who’s interested in connecting with the future of the Democratic Party in Massachusetts.
<
p>The only time that the “Young” part of YDM is ever an issue is when it comes to holding a position on the YDM Board or voting as a member of the organization.
<
p>I hope we’ll see some BMGers there!
<
p>Oh, and how about “Blue Massachusettsians?” or members of “Blue Massachusetts”?

We hosted the party in Boston last year and more than 70 people attended. This year we’re hosting them across the state and it’s going to be HUGE! As Kevin said ALL are welcome at our parties. We love our Young Dems and the Young at Heart! After all We’re all Democrats! So I expect to see more than a few BMG readers.

from a mere politically oriented news event. Can you imagine the carnage when food stops coming to the supermarket. When the bank holidays start? When gas stops being available?

When, for the first time, a Democratic President openly encourages a discussion on cutting Social Security.
