Well, maybe it wasn’t the signs, but with a name like John Lawn, wouldn’t you expect some kind of word play?
In any case, Watertown “town” councillor John Lawn defeated Republican Jim Dixon to win Peter Koutoujian’s statehouse seat tonight. Here’s the numbers, according to the Globe:
Newton: Lawn 374 (72%), Dixon 145 (28%)
Waltham: Lawn 987 (61%), Dixon 624 (39%)
Watertown: Lawn 453 (82%), Dixon 99 (18%)
TOTAL: Lawn 1,814 (68%), Dixon 868 (32%)
Please share widely!
But if you drove along Main St from Watertown Square to Moody St in Waltham, it was a sea of red John Lawn yard signs.
John’s a great guy and he really out-hustled his competition in both the primary and the general. He’ll be a great Rep for all the communities in the 10th Middlesex.
I’m just saying, I hope the campaign had some fun with this. The possibilities are endless.
Another LAWN SIGN for good government. John Lawn for State Representative.
** or maybe **
JOHN LAWN CARES about good government. John Lawn for State Representative. Of course, if your sign plays on lawn care company signs, you may want to be thoughtful about the quality of landscaping that surrounds your signs.
The obvious: LAWN WEEDS OUT… (insert your favorite political evil here) at the Statehouse. Or the statehouse needs a TOP QUALITY LAWN. Through all this, you give the campaign a nice healthy green image while simultaneously implying that the Republican is the electoral version of crabgrass.
Sorry about this post, but it is too much fun and I just couldn’t resist the temptation. I wish the newly-elected representative all the best on the hill.
I was at his house for the first time yesterday and I noticed that his back yard is 100% grass free. Don’t tell anyone!
