First the bad news: Nathan Horton was the victim of a brutal open-ice high hit in the first period and was taken off the ice in a neck brace on a back board. Afterward, the announcers said he was moving his extremities, which is a positive sign.
The good news for Bruins fans: A serious offensive explosion in the second period, including a power play goal and a short-handed goal (a beauty by Brad Marchand).
The third period has just started and, unless there is a total breakdown (I’m not trying to jinx them), this final goes at least five games.

Good grief. Save a few goals for the rest of the series, eh?

But from the Bruins’ perspective, they want to get into Luongo’s head, and effectively scoring at will makes the point. Whether it rattles Luongo remains to be seen.
This was an ugly game, and from a non-biased view (remember, I’m not a fan or either team), the blame lies with the Canucks. It started with the Burrows biting incident and continued with the taunting and especially the hit by Rowe on Horton. I’ve never seen so many major penalties and misconducts in a Stanley Cup final game. I think if the league had taken care of Burrows, I believe we never would have seen this (and Shawn Thornton probably wouldn’t have gotten into the Boston lineup tonight).
This takes nothing away from the Bruins’ play tonight. They really righted their ship and (Michigan native) Tim Thomas had a really, really strong game.

Talked to John Walsh tonight. He liked my suggestion. I’ll be in ouch with you off-line about this. I normally wouldn’t have commented but I’m trying to get more interaction and community.

and forgot to play hockey. Thanks.
Any word on Horton?

I haven’t found any further updates.

Massarotti reported this am. Out for the series (at least). Disciplinary hearing 11am for Aaron Rome. May it be a lengthy suspension.
Jasiu says
The NHL has suspended Vancouver’s Aaron Rome for four games, which means he is done for the rest of the Stanley Cup Final.

I really expected the B’s to get distracted and tired out trying to chase the bad guys around. One of the painful things about last year’s Philly series was the way the evil Matt Cooke scored goals for the Flyers.
