Looking for a way to celebrate Independence Day that helps elect Democrats AND do something fun with non-political friends and family, and is good exercise? Consider marching in a parade with your favorite Democratic candidate.
Back in 2010, with the primary coming quickly, I posted an “Indpendence Day Thread” There were some great hints on marching. This year it is lower key, although I suspect that at least some candidates for U. S. Senate will be out and about.
Betsy from Connecticut sent this out… “You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.” – Erma Bombeck And that it is. With so many wonderful ways to spend the extended daylight hours of July, gather some friends and family, grab a camera, pack a picnic and celebrate America!!
I’ll add that this is a good time to start having conversations with family and friends about why you vote Democratic. Talk about the importance of having two U. S. Senators who are voting in the best interest of Massachusetts and our residents.
I’d be very happy if you joined me in marching in two Fourth of July parades I have this year, in Ayer and Harvard. Information is below, I understand it’s going to be a beautiful weekend! I’ll also be stopping by other towns’ 4th of July celebrations…so I hope to see you either way!
Best wishes, Jamie
