So Senator Brown has finally responded to the Boston Globe about CrazyKhazei:
US Senator Scott Brown today said he was unaware a top adviser was mocking a potential political rival under a false Twitter account, but he’s “made clear to everyone on or associated with my team that this type of thing is not to happen again.”
In a statement to the Globe this afternoon, the Massachusetts Republican said of the actions of aide Eric Fehrnstrom: “While it’s clear Eric was seeking to inject a little levity into politics on his own time, I wasn’t aware of what he was doing.”
So it was clear to Scott Brown that Fehrnstrom was trying to inject levity into politics? Levity, per Merriam-Webster:
Levity, noun:
: excessive or unseemly frivolity: lack of steadiness :changeableness
Levity, according to Scott Brown, is mocking the It Get’s Better Project, as Fehrnstrom did.
Levity, according to Scott Brown, is calling a potential opponent crazy, as Fehrnstrom did.
Levity, according to Scott Brown, is harassing a female political activist about getting a date, as Fehrnstrom did.
Levity, according to Scott Brown, is comparing Martha Coakley to Elizabeth Warren because she’s a woman, as Fehrnstrom did.
Levity, according to Scott Brown, just doesn’t fit the definition.
Shame on Scott Brown for writing this off as Fehrnstrom’s attempt at humor. That would be remotely believable if his well-paid new-media guy Rob Willington hadn’t purchased the domain name. Scott Brown doesn’t need to explain away Fehrnstrom, he needs to explain why his campaign is going negative after railing against it.
