After serious personal reflection, I have decided not to seek the United States Senate seat for Massachusetts at this time. There are several good candidates currently in the race and I am fully satisfied that any nominee from this group will represent Massachusetts effectively in the Senate. Thanks to everyone who has encouraged me to seek the Senate seat. I very much appreciate your support and your insight. I look forward to seeking re-election to the House in 2012.
Please share widely!
Last night a long time Democratic activist told me that for her, it was either Bob Massie or Mike Capuano, and she was waiting to see what Mike would do! So I thank you Mike for letting us all know, and for your service. Frankly, it is silly season in the U.S. House of Representatives and we need your mature voice there to at least try and keep order in that sandbox full of quareling political toddlers.
As most here know, I am passionately supporting Bob Massie and want Bob as my next senator in place of Half-Term Senator B.
Wow, I had no idea.
I’m glad Mike spoke up, and so does E. Warren.
Ya know there were some progressives frozen by the prospect of a Capuano run. Caps has loyal friends, deservedly so.
Mike is a damn good congressman and this is the right choice for him.
Because I would have been torn. I really like Mike but like Elizabeth Warren too. It would have been really hard. Now Ms. Warren better decide to run because if she doesn’t I’m going to be flippin’ mad.
I guess I better pick a horse now. I am leaning Khazei, but I like Setti and I’m open to Elizabeth Warren. I like Bob Massie too, but he needs to generate much more heat than he has so far.
Big news broken via social media. Interesting.
…that leaves three candidates in the race – Khazei, S. Warren, and Massie. This is news to Marisa DeFranco, Herb Robinson, and Tom Conroy who spoke as candidates at our state convention in June.
