Record job losses. Mortgage foreclosure crisis. Spiraling health care costs.
Rising tuitions. Shrinking retirements. Two wars. And an uncertain future.
Massachusetts families feel like the American Dream is slipping away.
One candidate is ready and determined to bring it back.
She is a leader who stands up for what’s right.
A different kind of leader – one who stands up for our families and makes business and government play by the rules.
GETTING OUR ECONOMY BACK ON TRACK
SHE will work to turn this economy around by investing in innovation that creates jobs, including green jobs, and spurs the growth of new business in America. She supports extending unemployment benefits to those still struggling to find new employment in this current economic crisis.
SHE will advocate for greater protections for consumers and support enhanced financial regulation and increased oversight of Wall Street investment banks, financial institutions and credit card companies to prevent future economic collapses.
REFORMING OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
SHE will fight to reform our health care system by supporting a strong public option, working to lower the costs of insurance, prescription drugs and medical services and by expanding access to affordable health care for all.
ACHIEVING ENERGY INDEPENDENCE
SHE will fight to reduce our dependency on foreign oil. She supports expansion of alternative energy sources, including wind turbines, solar energy, and renewable energy technologies.
PROTECTING NATIONAL SECURITY & CIVIL RIGHTS
SHE will be a strong advocate for enhanced cyber security critical to both our national security and every family’s safety.
She will continue to fight for equal rights and opportunity for all. She will work to protect and defend civil rights by repealing the Defense of Marriage Act.
STANDING UP FOR SENIORS
SHE will fight to keep the promise of Social Security and preserve it for future generations. She is committed to ensuring that benefits are not reduced, and those paying into the system now will be guaranteed their benefits later.
As Senator, she will work to strengthen Medicare, give seniors improved quality and access to care, and provide prescription drugs at lower prices.
IMPROVING PUBLIC EDUCATION
SHE will work to reform the No Child Left Behind Act to make it live up to its promises. She will support legislation that directs federal funding to local governments to satisfy the requirements of NCLB. Municipal and regional school systems will then have autonomy in directing funding and deciding what is best for their students.
As Senator, SHE will support funding for universal preschool and all day kindergarten in any reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act.
A different kind of leader…She will be an outstanding U.S. Senator for Massachusetts.
P.S.: ALL OF THE ABOVE COPY TAKEN FROM MARTHA COAKLEY’S BROCHURE…
Elizabeth Warren mirrors Coakley’s message (just substitute “middle class” for “Massachusetts families” when you read it) and has adopted Evelyn Murphy’s turquoise campaign colors…but one other thing has not changed: any race is an uphill fight when you are a female candidate running for anything in Massachusetts.

I supported Mike Capuano in the primary against Martha Coakley because I considered him the better candidate to beat Scott Brown. Caps was one of several less well known candidates all running against one who enjoyed wide name recognition, especially with Democratic primary voters. It was hard to get many of the Coakley supporters to even look at the qualifications and records of the other candidates. I am finding many (not all – there are always exceptions) Elizabeth Warren supporters to be quite unaware of the qualifications and records of the other candidates and quite uninterested in learning more. This casts no shadow on EW herself, but it does not speak well for the electorate.
