According to the Lowell Sun, the debate will be on October 4, 2011 at Durgin Hall, UMASS Lowell South Campus 35 Wilder Street at 7:00 PM. Marty Meehan, who was a very effective congressman for many years, will moderate. The questions will be delivered and apparently chosen by a panel of student leaders with a focus group of students. For more information: http://www.lowellsun.com/todaysheadlines/ci_18900360 and the Boston Herald is teaming up with UMASS Lowell and will also provide a “live stream” of this first debate. So tune on in, or show up, and maybe we can come up with a place to all go hang out and drink coca cola (my strongest drink) and share our opinions and impressions of what is sure to be a very interesting debate.

I have never been to a live debate before although I was a student at UMASS/Boston when Al Gore debated Bush II (showing my age). I think it’s time to see one and what else is there to do on a Tuesday night anyway? My only concern is that debates with five plus candidates tend to get rather crowded and it is hard for any one candidate to change he dynamic of the race.

So I am, personally, glad he decided to stay where he is. He is a skilled executive frankly. (Oooh – did I say that?)
