You can smell the fear a mile away. Email, no link. Emphasis in original. The subject line is “Warren’s $3 Million.”
In just the first several weeks of her campaign against me, [Elizabeth] Warren has fanned the flames of class resentment to fire up her liberal base and raise over $3 MILLION – the most raised in a single quarter of any candidate, incumbent or challenger, in the nation, and more than even some presidential candidates.
Professor Elizabeth Warren embodies everything the radical left believes in, and they are putting their money where their mouth is. Will you please help me fight back with a generous contribution today!
In addition to Elizabeth Warren’s $3 million war chest, multiple DC special interest groups and independent fundraising organizations-from Big Labor to 527-Super PACs-have been launched and are preparing to pour tens of millions of additional dollars into this race to distort the truth and attack my pro-job and independent voting record. Many of these groups started their attacks and fundraising months ago, and have already spent millions of dollars against me.
Funny, no mention of Brown’s own $10 million war chest, nor of the “multiple DC special interest groups and independent fundraising organizations” who “are preparing to pour tens of millions of additional dollars into this race to distort the truth and attack” Warren. That’s OK – it’s par for the course to pretend that the other guy or gal is the one bringing in all the DC and fatcat money while one’s own fundraising is all about the real Massachusetts. But what I find interesting is the raw fear that radiates from this email. I understand trying to encourage donations … I’m not sure I understand showing that you’re scared.
Also, the tag line is priceless.
P.S.: Remember, we’re Americans first. I am going to continue to remember that with each and every vote I take, and that’s what scares the other side so much.
No, Scott, what scares us is that, with each and every vote you take, you’re going to remember who’s funding your campaign.

This communication sounds nonsensical to most of us who are not its intended audience. To whom does it make sense and what does it mean?

Good thing I’m not playing the drinking game for right-wing buzzwords. But if I was, I’d be buzzed myself…

Or, for a more ribald experience, add “in my pants” after each of those.
