The New York Times reported today that “The top 1 percent of earners more than doubled their share of the nation’s income over the last three decades“. This in a CBO report, not some liberal left-wing agitprop site.
Here, finally, is some substance to support what those of us with eyes to see and ears to hear have known for awhile. From the CBO report:
For the 1 percent of the population with the highest income, average real after-tax household income grew by 275 percent between 1979 and 2007 (see Summary Figure 1).
For nearly thirty years, the right wing and GOP have aggressively pursued government policies, legislation, and regulation to ensure that the rich get richer — literally strangling the rest of the economy in the process.
The squawking and bleating from Corporate America and the GOP about Elizabeth Warren and the Occupy Everything movement is so loud precisely because Ms. Warren and the Occupy Everything movement are so unerringly accurate in their target. This CBO report provides the substance to support the much-needed change that America so desperately needs.
