Thanks to bean for noting the fact that our post demonstrating – for, we believe, the first time – that Mitt Romney supported the idea of a federal individual health insurance mandate in 1994 received a substantial shout-out on the Rachel Maddow show last night. Maddow was talking about how the individual mandate began its peculiar life as a conservative Republican idea. Here’s the relevant bit:
Actually, the entire piece is worth watching. In it, Maddow does a first-rate job of demonstrating the remarkably broad and enthusiastic support among Republicans for the individual mandate back in the 1990s. Republican hypocrisy on this subject is simply astonishing, and it’s amazing that they’ve basically been allowed to get away with it. Here it is.

and Poetry Month, too. Rachel Maddow is splendid. I hope her shout-out brings in more traffic for y’all. You are all splendid poets, with some regards to Robert Frost’s vision of poetry. We Americans mourn the loss of Trayvon Martin. Not only do we mourn, Howard University college students even composed an information video. And some gun-bragging resident got his supper today of Democrat campaign lit.
