FURTHER UPDATE [Wednesday evening]: They’re baaaaack. Sorry folks – our last solution did not work, so we’ve had to suspend posting again while we sort this out. Bear with us – we have a plan and are hoping to implement it during the day on Thursday.
UPDATE: We have restored posting capability. Here’s hoping we’ve got the spam situation under control. We will continue to monitor closely.
Hi all. With regret, we have had to suspend posting until we figure out how to manage a massive spam attack – I deleted well over 100 spam posts this morning. Commenting is still up. I’ll update when we have a plan.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Please share widely!

akismet for posts…
Sorry to hear you’re getting whacked. Hope you figure it out soon…

Unfortunately, things like user posts are oddball enough that nobody has bothered to develop a way of dealing with it. The spammers are way ahead of the good guys on this one! :/
John Tehan says
Make all new users “Subscribers”, that way they don’t have the capability to publish their own posts. Explain to them in the welcome email that they have to contact you to be promoted to “Author” – that should knock the spammers out, no?
David says
Thanks.

PITA but what can you do?
Good luck, David, I hope it works.
This would, also, cut down on the drive-by troll posters…I would think…it taking an extra step to get user posting status.

if you experience any weirdness on the site. If you can’t access a page you think you should be able to access, please tell us, either by commenting here, or by emailing blue at bluemassgroup dot com. Thank you!

There are right now seven diaries which appear to be spam in the queue.

This is quite massive.
Maybe we should have been nicer to Roger.

Good one.
We’re working on it and should have an effective solution in place soon.
