This is my governor, at his best. This is a masterpiece. Governor Patrick has captured my values and vision as well as my frustration, and connected it to a narrative of how we work together to recover the America I love and believe in.
Not just any narrative, either. He lays out a compelling (to me) narrative that articulates the chasm that separates today’s GOP from all that makes America great, and that points the way towards all the things we Democrats are for.

As I mentioned elsewhere, this is why Deval was the first candidate I became a precinct captain for and why I will always be proud that was my first political campaign. While he has disappointed me sometimes in office, his rhetoric has always been outstanding. I always bristled at the Obama-Deval comparisons, mostly because it wouldn’t be happening if not for their shared race, and also because they are completely different orators. Obama is great with a poetic speech written by a speechwriter, but is lost and awkward without a teleprompter. Deval can give a great off the cuff impassioned speech without sounding phony or angry, and he is one of our parties best. While I am in Hillary’s camp in 2016, we could do worse than have either Gov. Patrick or Gov. Schweitzer on the ticket in some order for their oratory prowess alone, let alone their record as fighting populists.

Their rhetoric matches up alot, as does their South Side background. The Axelrod influence on both is clear in their speech and campaign styles. The comparisons were so obvious that when Patrick endorsed Obama in 2008 not only was I not surprised, I would have been very surprised if he hadn’t.

I sure hope he gets a prime spot in Charlotte. Who does better than our Governor. fantastic.
