At least the mailing I received today is the first I’m hearing this one. The mailing is paid for by America 360 Committee, which according to Open Secrets has only spent money on this race and has its office in DC. Only one donor of more than $1000 is listed. It makes the following points:
- Elizabeth Warren has said that citizens and taxpayers deserve transparency in government.
- But when she took the lead of a committee charged with overseeing Wall Street bailouts she declined to answer how $10 million of taxpayer money was spent.
- She failed to reveal how much went toward travel, salaries, meals, consultants, or how much she was paid as chairman. She even fought efforts to create a budget for the committee.
- How much did Warren pocket for her work on this secretive committee? She admitted making over 190K for a job she described as part time. Her campaign admitted it misstated her compensation.
ELIZABETH WARREN SAYS ONE THING AND DOES ANOTHER. WE JUST CAN’T TRUST HER.
The piece cites Senate Finance Committee testimony and a couple of Politico articles on consecutive days last September. The Politico stories are here and here. Needless to say, the full stories don’t sound nearly as bad for Warren as the cherrypicked citations do.
Please share widely!
It’s a rehash of an old attack that had no traction then and shouldn’t be given any traction now. From Politico:
Much ado about nothing…
But I don’t know if the ad itself is much adoabout nothing. For one, it shows the GOP’s desperation. For another, it is part of GOP Campaigning of 2012, the most universally dishonest campaign we’ve seen in modern times. Scott Brown is part of that. We should be shouting that from the highest rooftops or at least on BMG and other forums.
