Western MA 2011 – four federal level emergencies/disasters with Winter snowstorms, June tornadoes, August Irene and October ‘snowprise’ – all received immediate state and federal attention to assess and initiate response, recovery and the critical “declaration” status.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, had nothing but praise for President Barack Obama today, as his state prepares to rebuild from the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.
“I have to say, the administration, the president, himself and FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate have been outstanding with us so far,” Christie said on Good Morning America. “We have a great partnership with them.”Christie told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that Obama called him on Monday night around midnight to ask if there was anything else the federal government could do to help. Christie added that they worked together to move forward with a Major Disaster Declaration for New Jersey.
The Major Disaster Declaration provides funding for recovery efforts, including infrastructure projects, temporary housing, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property loss and assistance to individuals and businesses.

is hoping Romney loses so he won’t have to wait 8 years to run himself.

Also, I think Christie is an actual human being and realizes that, at times like this, he has a direct impact on millions of people’s lives and therefore must govern like an actual adult, a capability many other Republican elected officials seem to lack.
I do wonder what Christie would say privately if asked the following question: “As governor, when your state is up against it like you are with Sandy, who would you rather have your back: President Obama or President Romney?” based on the clip it is tempting to speculate that Christie would admit that he would want Barack, but he is still a Republican and it is impossible to know what lies in any man’s heart, lol.

I think he actually cares about getting his home state fixed up after a direct hit by this storm.
I have some family there and they’re without power. My friend and his wife had a tree fall on both their cars at home, no power projected for days and the condo they share with extended family on the Shore was flooded badly. A lot of people there are feeling it and the Governor, you’d hope, cares about that.

Too bad the Lowell Sun doesn’t read its own back issues when making endorsements.

that Christie is an actual human being. I previously thought he was a human bellow.

Good on him.

This is who carried the heavy buckets to get resources for the October 2005 floods.
In addition to the Taunton region, portions of central/western MA (Greenfield and other communities) were damaged by the floods to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars (a mere wet day, compared to Sandy), however, there was no visiting the sites by Governor Romney. Central and Western Mass were too far away and not a good ROI (return on investment) as the 47% are seriously breeding out there!
The MIA Governor Mitt was, and probably still is, clueless that state funds were used to repair private roads and bridges! But then again, he wasn’t too sharp about the Big Dig either, eh?
October isn’t as benign as many think!
