Hey Dems, here’s a thought for a win/win platform position.
Instead of voting against the military’s use of alternative energy sources as Congress recently and foolishly did, one thing that our leaders could do to benefit the nation’s drivers would be to wean the Pentagon off oil.
By eliminating or dramatically reducing demand from one of the world’s biggest oil consumers, Congress could precipitate a huge decrease in the price of gasoline.
Imagine that: promoting the use of alternative energy AND allowing market forces to precipitate a sharp drop in the price of gas.
Maybe we can put an end to the charge that “Obama just wants to raise gasoline prices,” while at the same time addressing the concerns of climate activists who rightly worry about our lack of progress in reducing use of fossil fuels….
