Sometimes something takes on a life of its own in a was that was not originally anticipated. More years ago than I care to remember I started hosting the Westborough DTC holiday party. It was a fun low key affair usually on a Thursday evening and then we moved it to Friday. One year I think about eight people came and it didn’t have a good feel to it. I said to myself I’m never going to have only eight people show up again. Well be careful what you wish for. The last several years we have had more than 200 people at what is now a Sunday afternoon gathering.
You’re all invited. Please join me at 17 Gary Circle in Westborough from 2 to 6 PM. I’m thrilled at the number of elected officials who are planning on attending. It’s a football friendly, family friendly open house with people coming and going throughout the afternoon. I’ve got coat racks and a sign-in table set up in the garage. Children’s games are in the basement. It’s not for the claustrophobic. One BMGer told me that she came once and she’s glad she came, but she doesn’t plan to come again. Maybe she’s changed her mind and is ready to brave the crowds.
I have confirmations from Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren, Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray, Attorney General Martha Coakley, Treasurer Steve Grossman, Auditor Suzanne Bump.Congressman Jim McGovern and Party Chair John Walsh. Secretary Bill Galvin hopes to attend. Senators Jamie Eldridge, Sal DiDomenico and Ben Downing, as well as Representatives Kate Hogan, Tom Sannicandro, Carolyn Dykema and Jen Benson and Representatives-elect Danielle Gregoire and Jeff Roy, along with Governors Councillor Marilyn Pettitto Devaney, City Councilor Matt O’Malley and Cambridge Vice Mayor Denise Simmons have all mentioned an interest in attending. I hope that I haven’t missed anyone.

Everyone is welcome. RSVP directly to me at KateDonaghue AT aol DOT com. We are about a mile from the Westborough Commuter Rail station. We’ll arrange for a pickup for anyone who wants to come by train. Please note that street parking gets problematic. I’m encouraging people to park at the Middle School if possible. It’s at 20 Fisher Street in Westborough, just a couple of minutes walk.
Are you in? Let folks know!
can I bring my bros?
Looking forward to meeting you.
Too busy these days!
I think all my guests are cool. But I just got an official RSVP from Roger Lau. How cool is that?
I’m not sure if I count as one eb3’s cool people (or one of his bros, for that matter) but I will be there and I will be enjoying myself! Look for the big guy with the really loud laugh…
fresh off the event tonight with E. Warren, will be car-pooling down tomorrow. 🙂
I am unfortunately out of town until Sunday evening for a family obligation, otherwise I would be there…Assume you will post a report and photos? 🙂
Great reconnecting!
As I was getting ready for Sunday’s event I was remembering when I was a young bride and buying china and a dining room set. I remember envisioning family Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gatherings. I wasn’t envisioning my 200 closest friends at my home with a U. S. Senator elect and most of the constitutional officers.
Sue and I will be there. This is one we always try to make. [[And this is a placeholder for “bold, witty, and substantive commentary”. Oh dear..]]
Always refreshing to put a face on a name!
someone here willing to explain what 13th stepping is?
Yes, it really is good to meet people you’ve only known by following them. Good to see you!
Anyone?
BTW I smoke. So I’m putting other smokers on notice. Bring your own butts, I don’t give hand outs.
Thank you as always for opening your home!
I got a new facebook profile picture…
met a chick at the party.
Hey, that’s the bitch i split the eight ball with. She must have talked his ear off.
