As a matter of fact, the state has waived certain parts of our gun laws specifically to help S&W. It is likely (sorry, no cite) the governor supports and encourages S&W as it is an important employer in the Springfield area.
So is Savage Arms, Kahr Arms, H&R, Yankee Hill Manufacturing, and many other metal fabrication, finishing, and coating companies serving the gun industry.
