EVERETT – Alderman Mike Mangan officially kicked off his campaign for State Representative in the upcoming special election, hosting a packed event on Wednesday, January 30th at Shooters Bar and Grill in Everett to formally announce his candidacy to family, friends and supporters. Mangan will seek the Democratic nomination in the primary election on Tuesday, March 5.
Citing his love for Everett and commitment to serving the community as his reasons for entering the race, Mangan said that he would pursue a platform of supporting education funding, investing in public transportation, and job creation to “help make Everett an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Mangan, a two-term member of the Board of Aldermen, previously served on the Common Council and as a Board Member on the Everett Housing Authority. He is a member of the Everett Democratic City Committee, President of the E Club, and a long time coach for Everett youth sports including Pop Warner Football, & youth basketball.
Mangan is a twenty year member of the Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589, and a member of the Greater Boston Labor Council MASS AFL-CIO. He and his wife, Lori, have three children, Jessica, Kayla, and Brendan, all of whom either attended or still attend Everett Public Schools. Jessica is currently studying education at Fitchburg State while Kayla and Brendan are at Everett High School.
