I’d like to invite you all to a special event. Details and links below the fold.
On Sunday April 28th at 3pm, the Dudley House Orchestra will perform a charity concert. Proceeds will go to The One Fund, announced by Governor Patrick and Mayor Menino to help those families most affected by the tragic events that unfolded during Monday’s Boston Marathon. (Here is a link to the event’s Facebook page.)
The program includes:
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (complete with full chorus)
Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 16, with pianist Robert Levin.
The Concert will be at Sanders Theater in Memorial Hall, which is at 45 Quincy Street in Cambridge (Map link here).
Tickets are $10 for General Admission / $5 with a Harvard ID.
Additional donations will also be accepted at the door.
Tickets will be available at the door if still available, but are available from The Harvard Box Office 617-496-2222.
Parking is limited in the vicinity of Sanders Theatre. We recommend that you take public transportation (Red Line T to Harvard Square). Parking is available at the Broadway Garage at 1 Felton Street and the Garage at 52 Oxford Street. For more details, visit the Sanders Theatre Parking Website.
If you yourself can’t make it, please spread the word. It would be a great excuse to take a significant other out for a concert and then a dinner in Cambridge.
Thank you.

And, in the interest of full disclosure for those who don’t already know, this is the orchestra I regularly play with.
petr says
… What, exactly, do you play?
Mr. Lynne says
This year we happen to have a bevy of good percussionists so my part in this performance is to play timpani for the 4th movement of the Beethoven.
Christopher says
KIDDING! My father and brother are both percussionists.
mike_cote says
I know you were kidding but all the same, that was really mean!
Mr. Lynne says
… an annual softball game at UML that someone else organized – musicians vs. guitarists.
I suspect that was as much to get numbers even as anything – UML attracted guitarists back then (probably still does).

Aren’t we supposed to be joking about violists instead?
Mr. Lynne says
Hate to be selfish for my charity event, but any chance we could bump this for the weekend?
