…what Brad Marston (of Fourtier Strategies) said on Twitter about the post Marathon bombing actions of Gabriel Gomez that caused Marston to issue this apology? Marston has always seemed slimy, but this must have been really low.
And from the RMG comic relief department, old friend John Howard has endorsed Steve Lynch…because he thinks Lynch may not be as pro-SSM as he says he is and might just have the maverick streak to stand up to the evil transhumanists (natch).

Good thing we legalized medical marijuana, I’m sure its one of many medications John Howard needs.
I asked why as a trained Navy Seal Gomez watched other spectators rush to help the bombing victims and didn’t do the same.
My question was based on every report I had seen or read that said Mr. Gomez was with his family at the finish line when the Islamic terrorists detonated their bombs. A friend of mine saw my tweet and sent me a link to a news article that said that in fact Mr. Gomez had stopped to meet and hug friends and his family just before the finish and then proceeded on. So when the explosions happened he was not with his wife and children and naturally feared for their safety.
I know it is a foreign concept here at BMG but when I found out I had implied something that turned out to be untrue, I apologized for that implication.
Yeah, I know. Apologizing for being wrong is pretty slimy.

That was incredibly low, both in substance and timing. After the fact, apologizing was the of course right thing to do, and also in your self-interest as no doubt this attack was backfiring badly. Net-net, you’re still left well within the slime zone.
There was a particular pro-Gomez tweeter that had been particularly brutal in his unfounded attacks on Dan. He is an ardent social conservative and has attacked both Dan and me for our pro-choice and pro LGTB rights views. In fact I wrote this blog post in response to his attacks.
He unfollowed me on Twitter because of my support of Dan. I asked that he follow me so I could ask him the question via DM. His response was I am here. You can ask me on public stream. So I did.
As far as “backfiring badly” I only got one response but after reading it I decided to delete the question. And it was a question. It was a question and when a friend sent me the answer to that question I deleted my tweet and apologized to Mr. Gomez, his family, his campaign staff and supporters for even asking the question.
I made a mistake and apologized for it.

Some guy on twitter left you no choice but to try to make political hay out of this awful tragedy as the smoke was still clearing by launching a shockingly ugly personal attack on Mr. Gomez, based on nothing (what “reports” would have possibly made what you wrote o?). Got it.
You and most people at BMG aren’t fertile fields when digging for reasonable discussion.

all the nice things I’ve said about him.

of Fourtier Strategies, that you don’t find these fields fertile. Perhaps the slime you laid down has left them fallow?
As stated above, you’re probably wise to quit at this point. But, if you ever want to share these (imaginary?) “reports” that you think would have justified asking “why as a trained Navy Seal Gomez watched other spectators rush to help the bombing victims and didn’t do the same”…I’m all ears.

You contacted Mr. Gomez before you implied he was a physical coward and/or couldn’t be bothered to help bombing victims right in front of him?
Brad, apparently at some point people paid you to give advice in a campaign (amazing as that seems). Let me give you some free…stop digging.

Do you have an idea how bad you are making yourself look? You would have been far better off if you had never commented here.
BTW, apologizing only counts if you give the appearance of meaning it.

We value accuracy and I think you’ve been treated fairly decently here.
…you being a Republican who constructively engaged here, but now I’m starting to question that recollection. I don’t know which posts you mean since you didn’t link them, but on a blog the line between reporting and editorializing is blurrier than in traditional journalism. I don’t believe I’ve ever slandered anyone, but if I write about what I have heard and read about a public figure I don’t contact them directly for comment the way I would if I worked for a paper. Our editors have a pretty good track record of being conscientious about accuracy and generally link their sources and encourage the rest of us to do likewise.

You’ve actually left me a little stunned at your gall that you could say such a thing about Gomez in the aftermath of the bombing, and then a few days later try to get on a high horse and rebuke your fellow repubs for unfair attacks on your candidate and the proverbial circular firing squad.
Thank you for the quick reply though. I was curious.
and to provide a little context,

You really should stop digging, Brad Marston of FourTier Strategies.
