The South End of Boston was the place to be on Tuesday evening. Senator Elizabeth Warren was a special guest at Michelle Wu’s campaign kick-off. Michelle Wu is a candidate for Boston City Councilor at-large. Senator Warren looked great and was passionate as she spoke about Michelle; Michelle was a law student of then Professor Warren and also worked for the Elizabeth Warren campaign. The Senator was emotional and choked up when she spoke about Michelle. Michelle is a talented and dedicated young woman and Elizabeth’s presence speaks volumes. For those of you who might not be familiar with Michelle, Adrian Walker tells her story. The Senator also made a point of once again thanking the people who had helped in her election effort last year. I am consciously grateful that Elizabeth Warren is my senator.
While Michelle and Elizabeth and the other speakers were great, it was also of interest to see who was in attendance. City Councillors John Connolly, Bill Linehan, Tito Jackson and Mike Ross were all circulating. Council candidate Suzanne Lee was busily talking with folks. DA Dan Conley was asking people to consider him for Mayor of Boston. Another declared candidate present was Charles Clemons. State Representatives Byron Rushing, Russel Holmes, Carlos Henriquez, Aaron Michlewitz and Jeffrey Sanchez were all present. Candidates for State Representative Josh Dawson and Jay Livingstone were both working the room. Mike Lake, candidate for Lieutenant Governor, was in attendance. We also had Senators Will Brownsberger and Sonia Chang Diaz. Sheriff Steve Tompkins did a great job of introducing the elected officials in the room. If I missed someone, don’t blame him.
I’m sure that it won’t surprise anyone if I say that there was quite a bit of discussion about the Mayor’s race and who was or wasn’t running. And there was discussion of the dominoes that would fall as people make various decisions. I won’t share the discussion I heard; I’ll leave it at who I observed in the room and put it out there for those who like to read the tea leaves. Feel free to speculate on the council races, the mayor’s race and beyond. Thoughts anyone?

It’s beyond impressive that EW showed up at that event and made the comments she did about MIchelle Wu.
Every time I say EW cannot impress me more, she then impresses me more. She’s the absolute best.
